As the glaze contracts and separates in the kiln, it creates a distinctive "crawling" texture with irregular edges and a tactile depth. Also sometimes called a "lichen" glaze. The amount of cracking and depth of texture depends on application thickness. A thinner coat will produce a finer network of cracks with a relatively smoother
