Neither player can evolve a Pokemon on its first turn in play but you can evolve both active and benched Pokemon

Varina, Lich Queen Varina, Lich Queen gives you a reason to do zombie typal in Esper colors, while most of the zombie commanders are Dimir

There's also the fact that this card neatly dodges Vanishing Verse which is some of the only meta removal that should be able to take care of it

This definitely feels more like the kind of Starter Deck you could use as a skeleton for a competitive deck
